The Sea Trust
The Ocean Lab is home to the Sea Trust, a marine conservation group and their Sea Môr Aquarium, which offers an insight into the marine wildlife living around Fishguard Bay.
We are working to better understand, protect and raise awareness of local marine wildlife for the benefit of local communities.
Sea Shore Safari
The Ocean Lab is based at Goodwick Sands, and therefore has access to a fantastic natural classroom. Our Sea Shore Safaris, where we search for marine creatures and identify shells and seaweeds are done just outside the Ocean Lab. During the Safaris, children are given picture sheets of animals, shells and seaweeds to find on the beach.
Sea Trust marine biologists also bring water-filled trays of creatures out of the shallow water at low tide for inspection (these are returned unharmed at the end of the session). The content of these sessions can be tailored to meet your needs.
The Sea Môr Aquarium
The Sea Môr Aquarium is home to a variety of local marine creatures, representing the diversity of life found in Welsh waters. Highlights include our moon jellyfish, octopus, giant spider crab and our rock pool adventure tank, where children can touch and hold starfish, anemones and small crabs.
The Aquarium is an excellent complementary resource to the Sea Shore Safari, allowing close-up views of the animals possibly only glimpsed in their natural environment. The guided tour, provided by Sea Trust marine biologists, is packed full of fun facts, creating an eye-opening experience for children and adults alike.
