Year of the Sea

Join us on at the Ocean Lab, Goodwick, on 17 August for a day of activities to celebrate the Year of the Sea.
Part of the Wildlife Trust’s Living Seas Roadshow & Small World Theatre’s Cragen Tour


10am-5pm: Stalls – local eco-friendly goods and delicious food to buy

10am-5pm: Sea Trust will run guided tours of the aquarium showcasing a variety of local marine species, as well as seashore safaris and outer breakwater wildlife tours (small entrance fees)

10am-5pm: Ocean Guardians Fishguard & Goodwick will run workshops on the impacts of ocean plastic and how you can help. Sign our Ocean Guardians Pledge! (free!)

11am-4pm: Join the Wildlife Trust’s Living Seas Wales team and experience the unexpected this summer! Enter the ‘Sea Wales 7D’ Augmented Reality Dome and learn about some of the incredible marine wildlife that calls Wales home (free!).

12pm-1pm: Cragen, the mythical sea monster, is said to dwell off the coast of Wales and experts predict that she will appear on Goodwick Beach between 12pm and 1pm. Join Small World Theatre for this once-in-a-lifetime encounter (free!).

3pm: Poet Susan Richardson will perform poems from her collection Words the Turtle Taught Me (small entrance fee). Tickets available here.

7pm-9pm: Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard is showing The Island and the Whales (12A), a film about Faroe Islanders who have been hunting whales for generations, but are now facing a new challenge, as polluted oceans mean the whales are no longer safe to eat (buy tickets here).
